Princes Street Park and Gardens…A Quiet Retreat In A Magical City

#flathal #flatstanley

The Flat Fellas embraced the natural retreat before
setting out to see the manmade wonders.

The Norwegian Memorial Stone reads:
During the war years 1940 – 1945
The Norwegian Brigade and other army units
Were raised and trained in Scotland
Here we found hospitality, Friendship And hope during dark years of Exile
In Grateful memory of our friends and allies
On these isles this stone was erected In the Year 1978

The Flat Fellas Went To The Camera Obscura

Maria Theresa Short established the Camera Obscura on the Royal Mile in Edinburgh in 1853. That’s over 100 years ago!

The walk UP to it was a bit of a trek. Up winding streets to a building with 100 steps. But it was worth it! There was a fantastic view, from the rooftop viewpoints as well as the camera itself.

A mirror, three lenses and no electricity makes this camera work! So glad Flat Jay suggested this for our blue line.

From Camera Obscura The Flat Fellas Went In Search Of Magic

From old world wizardry to modern day magic, we walked past where JK Rowling wrote part of Harry Potter, down Victoria Street, with its Diagon Alley vibe, to get gluten free Fish ‘n’ Chips amid the themed shops and medieval buildings.
