The Amazon River After A Brief Rainstorm

The Amazon is muddy brown, in part because it is a fast flowing river with a lot of mud in it. After a brief rainstorm the surface of the river had an interesting, almost textured look. As if the clear, freshly fallen water was trying to figure out how to mix With the already muddy waters.

It’s like when you sit down to paint something. If you put some blue paint on your palette near some yellow paint, you have two distinct colors that might touch, or flow towards one another, but you can clearly see the two original colors . It isn’t until you swish your brush through them that they mix together to become green.

In the flat fellas picture of the river, the wind and current hadn’t yet had a chance to act like nature’s paint brush and swirl the waters together.
