Good-bye Cook Islands, next stop the Island Nation of…

Our next stop is visible on the included map.  The map shows Samoa, Tonga and the Cook Islands, all of which we have visited, as well as marking our path towards our next port of call. We are headed East / North East.

We have several stops planned at various ports that are in the same country.  We are going to a place made up of 121 islands and atolls! (I’ve seen a few slightly different numbers, but this seems to be about right.)

The country has surprisingly little land, just 1,359 square miles… about the same size as Rhode Island.  However, they control nearly 1/10th of the Pacific Ocean.  (That’s equivalent to, approximately, more land than the entire European Union.)

What kinds of jobs do you think the locals have?  Sailing?  Fishing?  Repairing boats?  How many different ways can a person make a living, or have fun, related to the ocean?
