The Flat Friends Discover Taiwan!

Taiwan is a little bigger in size than the state of Maryland. (Almost the size of Maryland and Delaware together.) However, Taiwan has a population of 23 million, that’s almost three times as many people as the 7.4 million people who live in Maryland and Delaware combined. That’s a lot of words to say a lot of people live close together—mostly in big cities along the coast!

The Flat Friends noticed almost as soon as we arrived that the people of Taiwan are very thoughtful and helpful. Perhaps they have decided, when you are constantly in crowded places, you can get frustrated, or you can work together—and have chosen to work together.

Several of the Taiwanese people we spoke to mentioned their beautiful mountains, and hiking—that sounds like another wonderful way to deal with living in a crowded country, by going outside to play!

The Flat Friends were planning to wander around Kaohsiung sightseeing with friends.

A major downpour of rain turned us back less than a mile from the port. We had a lot of fun photographing local birds, and walking inside a giant sundial instead!
