Lory Loft is an aviary full of colorful birds!

Our long held wish to photograph a bird with dazzling colors wasn’t just met, it was exceeded while we were at Bird Paradise.

Flat Hal was amazed that birds with bright red feathers could blend in with the trees, while Flat Halena was shocked how close to us the birds flew! On this page are 6 of the birds we saw.

The Flat Friends visit to Bird Paradise was, in every way, more than any of us could have hoped for.

Our goal of seeing and photographing colorful birds was met in Lory Loft with a beautiful array of feathered friends.

We discovered pigeons come in more sizes and colors than we ever imagined—we didn’t even know a giant crowned pigeon existed until we saw this one!

The Bali Myna was a delight for an entirely different reason. We have seen the Common Myna during our travels before (similar to this black Javan Myna we photographed just outside Bird Paradise), but never imagined this beautiful white and blue Myna
existed, calling an island hundreds of miles away home.

Flat Hal and Flat Halena didn’t realize just how many birds they photographed until we put together our journal pages. And we saw other birds, like the Northern AND Southern Cassowary that we weren’t able to get photos of—who knew there were two types of that beautiful big bird?!
