There is a lot to enjoy on an adventure at a wildlife park or sanctuary. The Territory Wildlife Park outside Darwin in the Northern Territory of Australia concentrates on animals found in “the Top End” otherwise known as north of a town called Katherine.
We saw Wallabies, which are similar to, but different from, the kangaroos and pademelons we saw at the Billabong Sanctuary, and over half a dozen birds put on a show at the “flight deck” amphitheater—an outdoor theater!
Around every twist and turn of the path we walked at the Territory Wildlife Park something was waiting to be discovered. Some discoveries were big, tall, and impressive, like the ‘screw pine’ aptly named for its twisting trunk.
The ‘Bracket Fungus Growth’ was a pretty surprise, hiding in the cracks of a tree stumps bark.
From little flowers to shells abandoned by the snails that once called them home, we were constantly slowing down to truly look at what was around us, instead of just trying to get to the next animal enclosure.
