After we sailed from Auckland, on our way to Waitangi, Bay of Islands, New Zealand, the Flat Friends stayed up as late as they could and tried to take some photos of the lunar eclipse.
The Earth slid between the sun and moon, and around the world people tried to get pictures of a rare orangey red “blood moon.” The truly lucky ones captured a brilliant color.
One of our fellow passengers suggested that our being in the southern hemisphere means the moon is “upside down “ compared to normal at home. Apparently we take the moon for granted at home!
We couldn’t visualize in our minds what they meant… now we can’t wait to get home and look at the full moon.
