The overcast weather seemed like it might be a bummer at first, but as we looked at our photos we realized it was highlighting the way the ice of Antarctica seemed to glow on the horizon.
Our photos captured a moody tone, depicting the harsh conditions living here must entail. Flat Hal and Flat Stanley are visiting during summer and the temperature is slightly above freezing during the day, with snow in the forecast during our five days here!
Our first day in Antarctica the Captain brought the ship as close as we safely could to an iceberg that is 214 feet tall!
We saw whales, seals, and penguins swimming beside our ship. Watching the penguins bound through the water, like synchronized swimmers was amazing.
