An important question to ask before eating a grape off the vine is what color are these when they are ripe. As Flat Hal and Flat Stanley discovered these will be purple in March (a month after they saw them) when they are ripe. As we can see they aren’t the only ones who were interested in the grapes! At the vineyard we saw a Groove-Billed Ani, Long-Tailed Mockingbird blending in with leaves that had fallen from the vines, and another Long-Tailed Mockingbird posing in the shade. The flowers of the Acacia are attractive, but beware, it’s known as a thorn tree for a reason.
