Part of the magic of Dravuni Island is the people who live here. Children who are not in school move about Dravuni Island with a freedom and joy like the entire community is their playground. Any adult appears willing to lend a hand, and seems to have one eye on what they are doing, the other on their friends and neighbors. In all the best possible ways Dravuni Island feels like what people are referring to when they say “it takes a village.”
Do you have people you can ask for help when your parents aren’t near by? Have you ever had someone come to help you, just when you needed it?
Do you pay attention to what your friends are doing, in case they need your help?

Dravuni Island is so small it only has a primary school. The children go to another island for school when they finish primary, Flat Stanley and Flat Hal stopped at the school to leave a copy of their journal with a copy of Flat Stanley’s book, a description of the Flat Stanley project, some Flat Stanley templates, and a bunch of pens with colored ink.

Could you write a page about where you are from, and send it to the students so they can learn about your part of the world? (Look up information on Fiji, and learn more about this country made up of Islands in the South Pacific, that might help you think of things they would find interesting.)

Dravuni Island has lots of Coconut trees, and sandy beaches. The flat fellas took pictures with huge shells that were gathered around the trunks of trees like rocks are back home.

Here is a little information about Dravuni Island to get you started: Dravuni is a volcanic island in the Kadavu Group of islands in Fiji. Covering an area of 0.8 km (0.3 sq mi), it has a reported population of 125 people.
How many people are in your class? Your school? Your community?
