A Brief Stop In St. Anthony, Newfoundland

With a population of less than 3,000, St. Anthony is not a port most people take a look at and say, “of course we are stopping here! No cruise would be complete without it!” Most passengers ask, “why are we stopping in this little village on the east coast of Canada?”

Flat Hal and Flat Stanley heard that question enough times they decided to try and figure out the answer for themselves.

Not only does St. Anthony offer a glimpse of small town life in coastal Canada, complete with whale watching, and chances to see icebergs, it is also near the Viking Trail.

Without access to a time machine we may never settle the debate to everyone’s satisfaction about who set foot on North America first, Christopher Columbus, or the Vikings, but here passengers feasted like Vikings, and visited L’Anse aux Meadows National Historic Site, where Vikings once stood.
