Charles Darwin famously kept journals while traveling aboard the HMS Beagle. Darwin’s journals were more focused than ours, Flat Hal and his friends are curious about almost everything we encounter!

Today in San Antonio, Chile, Flat Hal was excited to share with Flat Halena what he discovered about Tetrapods last year. When we decided to learn more about them, we knew we had seen them before, and would see them again, but it is oddly fun to return to a place where we photographed them, but had not yet reached the point of choosing to investigate and learn more.

Last year the Flat Fellas saw more Sea Lions in San Antonio, and even a cub or two. This year the Flat friends saw just two or three Sea Lions. Animals migrate (move with the seasons) hunt for food (swim out and fish versus lying around posing for our cameras) and then we had to remember that we came a few weeks earlier this year.

Sea Lions tend to have their cubs around the same time each year. They may have been too young to come out and play!
