Rain looks fantastic in photos — when it is off on the horizon, adding interest to the sky, and mood and character to the image. When the downpour is right on top of you suddenly the camera wants to focus on the raindrops, the sky looks grey (like in our photo of Clérigos Tower), and even something as simple as photographing a gull near the port seems like a challenge.
It was on one of these rainy days, a rare one for us during this often bright and sunny trip, that we went to Livraria Lello.
When crafting a book, authors make a thousand little decisions, including the weather for any given scene.
For Flat Hal and Flat Stanley, their day might as well have been written by a master. The weather inspired a desire to go indoors and escape… and they were in a place full of books just waiting to be escaped into!
