The idea of something only naturally occurring in one place really intrigued Flat Hal, so he and Flat Stanley have been trying to learn about and spot as many endemic plants, flowers, and birds as possible.
It feels like a bit of a scavenger hunt, and not an easy one — but photographing the Cape Verde Sparrow high up on Monte Verde on São Vicente, Cabo Verde felt like finding a prize!
The Brown Necked Raven was comparatively common, but still fun to see, especially given how well its feathers blended in with the rocks and sand. A reminder that animals colors are often well chosen to help them hide.
