The Chilean Fjords

That heading alone might take a moment. Do you know where Chile is? What a Fjord is? (Norway has Fjords too!)

Two days sailing the Fjords of Chile showed the Flat Fellas dramatic mountains, some covered in snow, and two glaciers.

How big is that glacier?
The cruise ship in front of it is the Sapphire Princess.
The Sapphire Princess is 205 feet tall, how tall do you think the glacier behind it (the Amalia Glacier) is?

Flat Hal and Flat Stanley sailed between these mountains, and through the “summer pass” which is the shallowest point in the Chilean Fjords.

This visit to the Fjords of Chile was a first for Flat Hal. He and Flat Stanley heard other passengers comparing it to Prince Christian Sound in Greenland. They are looking forward to seeing the Fjords of Norway, wondering if they will have a similar look, with an abundance of waterfalls, and lush trees growing along endless mountains.

The ship Flat Hal and Flat Stanley are on sailed slowly (and safely) through the calm, sometimes icy waters in the Chilean Fjords. As a result, there were times we saw the scenery reflected in the sea, as if it were a lake on a calm day. When we arrived at the glacier the Flat Fellas zoomed in to get a good look at the “glacier blue” ice.
